Image-guided infiltrations are indicated for spinal pain caused by disc pathologies, stenosis or complications after spinal surgery. The aim of epidural infiltrations is to inject the drug as close as possible to the injured or inflamed area. Therefore, based on previous imaging examinations, the interventional pain management specialist will investigate the technique that is most suitable for your case.
Intradiscal infiltrations
Cortisone infiltration into the intervertebral disc is currently the only recognised and validated therapy for the treatment of discogenic pain. It is performed on an outpatient basis, with real-time image monitoring. It is a technique that provides valuable information about the condition of the disc and results in significant pain relief.

Thermal radiofrequency (RF)
At Aliviam we offer radiofrequency treatments for different types of pain. Radiofrequency neurotomy is a safe procedure that is increasingly used to treat pain, especially in the spine (cervical, dorsal and lumbar). It is based on the creation of a microlesion, thanks to thermal energy generated in an electrical circuit. While it is performed under sedation in almost all pain treatment centres, at Aliviam we have developed techniques that allow the patient to remain fully awake or cooperate with the doctor and are completely painless. However, if the patient wishes, there is always the option of a light sedation.
Radiofrecuencia Térmica (RF)
Thermal radiofrequency is a procedure that allows us to create a nerve lesion very precisely. (RF) causes thermal destruction of the pain-conducting nerve and relieves the patient’s pain. It uses a low energy and high frequency (500,000 Hz) current. With this radiofrequency modality, we usually work with temperatures between 55º and 80ºC.

At Aliviam, we perform joint infiltrations for pain relief and apply anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medication to the affected joint space: shoulder, knee, hip, hand and foot joints. This makes it possible to directly reach the region where the pain is generated. The causes are almost always arthritic / arthrotic degenerative conditions.
